PALMA BAY FROM THE SADDLE, A DIFFERENT WAY TO DISCOVER THE CITY

Do you like cycling? We'll suggest to you a simple itinerary for discovering and exploring Palma Bay and getting to know every part of it well. Being a relatively small city and fairly level too, Palma's an ideal place to see from the saddle.

From s’Arenal to the Passeig Marítim, Palma has 15 kilometres of cycle tracks that will take you along its seaboard easily and safely. To start your tour you'll have only to organize a bike, go out of the front door of our hotel in Playa de Palma and head for the city centre.
The first 4 kilometres run along the edge of the Sometimes and Can Pastilla urban developments, and form part of Playa de Palma's "German area", where Biergartens and shops selling Bratwürst are a familiar sight. You'll have the sands of Playa de Palma on the other side of you all the way.
After passing Can Pastilla Yacht Club we come to Cala Estància, a small beach visited by local people, and Es Carnatge, a rocky area with magnificent panoramic views of Palma City. It's a low cliff of great geological and palaeontological value, which is a listed Natural Area of Special Interest.
Next you'll be riding through Cala Gamba, Ciutat Jardí and Es Portitxol, past bars and traditional beach restaurants in Palma, where you'll be able to enjoy anything from a simple pa amb oli (traditional Mallorcan food) to an excellent char-grilled fish platter. The coastline is occupied by quiet stretches of sand where you'll be able to spend a peaceful day on the shores of the Mediterranean.
After passing the 10.5 kilometres marker on the final stretch of your ride you'll be on Palma's Passeig Marítim. You'll pass in front of famous monuments including Mallorca Cathedral, the fortified palace of Almudaina and Gothic Sa Llotja, and must-see neighbourhoods like Santa Catalina and Es Jonquet.
If you decide to do this bike tour bear in mind that you'll need to obey the highway code for cyclists, which you can view on Palma Council's website.
